Yesterday, for some unknown reason, I was humming a Christmas song. It's too early for Christmas 2005, and too late for Christmas 2004. Howell, We all know what they say, that Christmas is in our hearts and I just happen to celebrate it everyday. ;) -------------------- As Aids said, last Sunday there were two less single people. Two of my dearest friends got hitched! Pau and Anne tied the knot in a Christian ceremony last Sunday. DA POGI and I were candle sponsors. We were the first to go in and light the ceremony candles. It is not an easy feat. The wedding was held in a garden, open area with electric fans all over the place. But we managed. :) I was crying most of the wedding. I cried when Anne walked down the aisle. I cried when they said their vows. I cried when they said their thank you's to their parents. It was such a special moment for them and for everyone who shared it with them. Of course, Bespren and Mye were laughing everytime they see me crying. We had a feast during the reception. I don't know how many courses were served. I think it was when they served the Peking Duck when I began to feel full. And then there was my impromptu speech (which I was actually practicing in the car on the way to the reception venue. Sssshhhh!). It was supposed to go one way but we thought, "hey! It's Pau's wedding, we should be kind to him :D ". So I used kinder words, which is not that hard since Pau is such a super friend! Eye and Cary served as colorum photographers. :D Good thing they had cameras with them else there won't be any snapshots of any of us. Sure, bespren had her camera with her but we were so busy joking and laughing with each other that we forgot all about it. To Pau and Anne, as I said before, I wish you guys all the best in your journey through life together. :) Bespren, sa wedding mo, may speech na akong prepared. :D

I decided not to buy an iPod. Not that I would use the money to buy shoes, but more of using the money for a more useful endeavor. Like say, additional dough for downpayment for a house. Sure it's not that much, but every centavo counts, right? Ever since I started working for the company, I've always had one big purchase a year. During my first year, I bought a watch that is more than Php5000. I originally wanted to get myself a Tag Heuer but finances were a little tight that year. So I got a Fossil look alike of the Alter Ego series and I still use the watch up to this day. On my second year, I bought a DVD player. It's not one of those DVD players that you see sold in Makati Cinema Square. It's branded and cost an arm and a leg. I left this at my parent's house when I got married. On my third year, I bought myself a digital camera. It was one of the most expensive cameras then. Now, it's just half the value of what it used to be. On my fourth year, I bought a Palm Tungsten E. I was practically drooling when the new line of Tungstens came out and just had to buy one for myself. And buy I did. I don't think I'm using it to the fullest, but another round of reorganization will keep me happy. I think. Now in my fifth year, I was thinking of buying an iPod. I often ask myself, I have been working for 5 years now and what have I to show for? Bespren and Pau bought cars. DA POGI has been paying for his car for 3 years now. I don't have that one big purchase yet. Something to really make my knees tremble from fright or excitement over the prospect of having this one great thing that I can own for years. Bespren would often tell me that having my dream wedding without any financial help from parents is already something to show for but I know in my heart I can still do more. So in my fifth year, I am hoping to buy a piece of property that DA POGI and I can call our own. I would have to start dreaming big. Goodbye, iPod.

I act older than my actual age!
You Are 27 Years Old
27
Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe. 13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world. 20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences. 30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more! 40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Pau and Anne are getting married in a week! :) Tomorrow, I'll be going to the modista to try out the gown. I'm really worried since I can't remember if I gained or lost weight from the time that I had my measurements. My clothes still fit me but I'm worried about my paunch. I guess I'll just have to pray that the gown would fit me OK. Anne is such a relaxed bride that I was a little surprised when she told me she had her first panic attack this week. Their wedding is extra special, since Pau's family will be arriving from overseas to attend it. And besides Bespren will not be overseas as what we initially thought. Can't wait for Sunday. Just another excuse to wear girly shoes! :D

I am a tropical person. I beg you, please do not bombard me with constant coldness. I have been in the brink of starting a cold for 3 days now and it's not funny anymore. My brain does not function correctly when my body is in below room temp. Sure, I indulge in airconditioning now and then, but it does not go below what my body can actually stand. I've been in a constant state of being cold for 2 days. Darn it.

I am Jen and I am a shoe addict. I posted before that when I got married, I only had 4 pairs of footwear under my name. Last night, I was doing an inventory of my shoes and I was shocked at the number. I have 5 sneakers. Two Nikes, 1 Puma, and 2 regatta. The regatta sneakers are identical except in color. One is blue and the other is white. I only have 1 pair of boots but at least they're Bass (Brand conscious!). I have an assortment of sandals. I have 3 flipflops. Two of them Hurley flipflops in blue and black and the other, platform flipflops in black. I gave my pink Hurley flipflops to my sister. I have 2 platforms. Three basic sandals (slip ons). Plus my ballet flats. All in all, it totaled to 14 pairs of footwear. I think I'm still doing ok, since Mitch has more than 20. But from 4 to 14 in 7 months? I'm averaging 1.43 pairs per month! I passed by So Fab last night and I almost (almost!) bought a new pair of pink sandals. Good thing they don't have it in my size. :D The olive green ballet flats are calling me. Now they announce that we have a bonus coming up. Now, I'm thinking: one iPod is equivalent to at least 5 pairs of shoes (if I buy them all in Bass or Nine West). Shoes or iPod? Hmmm.... hard choice.

I work in a workplace that thrives on challenges and changes. Yesterday, I arrived at work wearing something different from my usual attire. I usually go to work wearing jeans, a tshirt and sneakers. Yesterday, I wore capri pants, polo shirt, and ballet flats. It's the ballet flats that did it for my teammates. It's so girly that they couldn't stop but badger me the whole day about my change. See, last week, someone told me na nalolosyang na ako. That was like a wake up call for me to start dressing up like a girl and fixing myself so that I look my age. I can't forever be trapped in my college days (ie, dressing up is for funerals, weddings and debutante balls). I think I looked casual enough, but it seems that the change was too much for some of the people here that they even mocked my bracelet. Naku! pag sinuot ko kaya yung ballet flats na may flowerette, ano na lang ang sasabihin nila?

Watched my twin's, Julia Roberts', new movie. Had a kick out of watching Ocean's 12. Really funny movie. Loved Brad Pitt (syempre pa!) and Matt Damon. Super nakakatawa talaga sila. Plus the fact that George Clooney is oh so yummy. Eye candy lang ang habol ko sa movie na to. There were sections of the movie that are predictable, pero let me tell you, sobrang nakakatawa yung twist nila with Tess (Julia Roberts) involved. Gusto ko na rin panoorin yung KungFu Hustle.

Resolution number 1 is not as easy as it seems (see previous post). We have a known (maybe not in the same caliber as Starbucks but still known) coffee vendor here in the office. Since one of my new years resolutions is to help save paper by using tumblers instead of the disposable cups they have, I go to the coffee stand with my Starbucks tumbler in hand to get my daily dose of latte. Monday, I didn't use my tumbler yet. I asked the girl in the counter if I can just bring my tumbler the next time I buy coffee. She said yes, but only after I told her that I am not asking for a discount. The coffee is discounted anyway on account of the company paying a retainer for them. Tuesday, I brought my tumbler to the coffee stand. The girl didn't have a problem with it. She just assumed that my tumbler will probably have the same contents as their large cup. Wednesday, I again brought my tumbler and was served by the stand supervisor (I knew he was the sup because the girl calls him sir). He looked at me weirdly when I told him that I'll be using my tumbler instead of their paper cup. He got my cup, measured the coffee in the large paper cup, then transferred it to my tumbler. He then threw away the cup, which completely defeats the purpose of my new years resolution. Today, he did the same thing. This time I commented that I use my tumbler so that paper cup use will lessen. He reused the paper cup and gave it to the customer after me. I wonder what the person after me thought. Is it because of my Starbucks tumbler?

Some of my new year's resolution: 1. I will bring my own mug/tumbler when I buy coffee. (Help cut down on paper cups. Try to encourage people to do this too) 2. I resolve to lose at least 10lbs and try to maintain it. (I am currently at my heaviest now. Though, I don't have any difficulty carrying my weight, I don't want to stay in borderline obesity). 3. I will be a better housekeeper (this is the hardest one). 4. I resolve to finish all pending items from the wedding (no photoalbum and video yet, and it's 7 months already!) 5. I will try to buy stuff that I really need (Like, I need an iPod, nevermind if I don't have anything to wear). I know New Year's resolutions are made to be broken, but I do hope I will be able to maintain it. Especially number 4. I don't want my firstborn to be celebrating his 1st birthday without us getting our album and video. I need lots of time and patience to do this.

Last night was a laughfest. Had my usual round of Friends and The Apprentice on Channel 5. Cleaned house a little bit then DA POGI and I snuggled to watch Joey on my laptop. C sent me Season 1 episodes as part of his Christmas package. Wasn't able to watch the Pilot, but DA POGI and I were laughing so hard because of Joey's antics. Imagine Friends with only Joey. It's just one dumb blonde joke after the next. It's no Friends, but it's a good substitute. So what did I receive this Christmas? I got a pair of stud earrings that matches my engagement ring (from my pogi husband), a Starbucks tumbler (from my husband pa rin), WordFactory (from my beautiful sister), a silver necklace with a pearl pendant (from my husband's uncle), 3 shirts and cropped jeans (from me) and earrings with my birthstone (from my mommy). I also got an assortment of Christmas treats (brownies, cookies, chocolates, CDs) from some of my officemates. Wonder no more why I look heavier. :) I also received an alarm clock from our office raffle. haha. 2004 had some highs and lows. The most memorable high being our getting hitched. Lows? Nah! I'd rather not say that here. So here's to another year of health, wealth and happiness to all. :)
