One of the things I hate about planning a wedding is turning down people. I know it's better to let them know outright rather than let them wait, and that it is part of their jobs to accept rejection. But rejection is still rejection. And no matter how polite you say it, it is still rejection.
I have come up with a standard spiel and is now considered as an expert at politely turning down people (ask R, she'll testify that I do this great). So far, with the people I have turned down, I'm still friends with a couple of them, believe it or not. In my case, even if I don't get them, basta I like their product, I tell people about them. Kasi that's my way of helping them and saying that they have good products, just not what I was looking for.
Even when not in the wedding scenario, I say things that are only true. I only advertise things that I really like and would only refer people who are really good.
